  • Meta Builds Massive & Large AI Data Center Called “Prometheus”

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced an ambitious new project: the construction of one of the largest AI data centers in the world. Called “Prometheus,” this data center will be roughly the size of Manhattan and is expected to be up and running by 2026. The main goal of this center is to support Meta’s growing focus on artificial intelligence, especially in building advanced systems like AGI – Artificial General Intelligence – which aims to mimic human thinking.

This facility will house more than 500,000 AI chips (GPUs), making it one of the most powerful computing hubs ever created. It will support Meta’s next-generation technologies, such as AI-powered assistants, smart robots, and virtual reality tools. Prometheus is part of Meta’s plan to compete with other tech giants like OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Anthropic.

To power such a massive operation, Meta will use a combination of natural gas and renewable energy sources like solar power. One of the unique aspects of this project is the use of tent-style and prefabricated buildings to speed up construction. These allow Meta to complete a new section in just a few months, instead of the usual one to two years.

In addition to building infrastructure, Meta is investing heavily in AI research talent. The company is offering high-paying contracts to top AI scientists from around the world to join its new “Superintelligence Lab.” This shows how serious Meta is about becoming a global leader in AI.

This move reflects the increasing competition in the AI industry. With billions of dollars being spent and huge amounts of energy and computing power involved, the race to lead the future of AI is now fiercer than ever. Prometheus is a clear sign that Meta is going all-in to win that race.
